Youth

1st students' mission statement and goals:

We seek to bring the Lord to each of these students through many forms of teaching. We provide small groups, worship, and a lesson each week to bring students closer and closer to the Lord. Also, we want every student to feel welcome and leave all the chaos of school, bullies, or any other problems at the door. This is a place where we want students to feel the love of the Lord and leave the chaos behind.

Sunday School 9:45 A.M.

Meets in the youth area, 3rd floor E&A Building Sundays are geared towards community and gaining biblical knowledge. We want students to come out of the youth with a strong biblical foundation of the book of the Bible. So, we choose a book of the Bible to go through each month and dive into a deep study for 4 weeks to better understand God's word for us.

Encounter, Wednesday nights 4-7 P.M.

Meets in the youth area, 3rd floor E&A Building Encounter is so the youth can come and encounter God through fellowship, worship, lesson, and dinner. We want this to be a fun time of fellowship with games and activities followed by time in worship. Every month we pick a topic to walk through with the youth providing a lesson led by the youth directors and a time of worship. We always have a fun game planned for the youth to enjoy along with dinner each week. We want this to not only be a time where kids can come to encounter the Lord but also, to encounter a relationship with each other.

Freedom Groups, Sunday Nights 4-6 P.M.

Meets in the youth area, 3rd floor E&A Building Freedom Groups is a time for students to listen to someone other than the youth directors. We have parent leaders who come in each week ready to dive into a deep study of the Word, and to provide mentorship to these kids. We want this to be a time where students can learn more about each other, the Lord, and their mentor. We provide fun games between the guys and girls and the winner gets a MASSIVE prize at the end of the school year.

Leaders:

We love our volunteer leaders!!!!! In fact we never have enough! To become a leader for 1st Students you must LOVE GOD & LOVE KIDS. You do not have to have deep biblical knowledge as we provide all your materials for you but you must pass a rigorous background check, have a clean social media presence and be a member of FMC- Shreveport. If you want to get involved feel free to shoot us an email at jshadburn@firstshreveport.com or ejohnson@firstshreveport.com.
