rev. Stephanie kidd

I was born and raised in the small town of Ringgold, 40 miles southeast of Shreveport, in a time when rural communities were close-knit and everyone knew your name. As a cradle Methodist, my life was spent worshipping and serving in the Methodist church with my family and visiting various other churches in town with my friends. I graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a B.S. degree in Health Information Management in 1984, the year after I married David Kidd. The following years were spent raising our daughter, Andrea, working in healthcare in Shreveport, and attending high school football games and track meets all over the state in support of David’s career as a high school teacher/coach.

In 1993, near the end of the first Disciple Bible Study I had taken, I felt the Spirit’s tug to Christian ministry. For the next 6 years, I led our church’s youth group as a layperson. It was during that time that I began to discern God’s call and left healthcare as a result. While discerning, I served in various areas of the local church, teaching adult Bible study, leading the choir, directing VBS, and assisting in worship. Finally in 2004, the door opened for me to move into ministry as a vocation after I was introduced to the licensed local pastor route in the UMC. Over the next 15 years, I served five Town & Country churches (Marthaville, Castor, Haughton, Sibley, and Ringgold) and completed all Course of Study requirements at Millsaps College in Jackson, MS. Through a totally unexpected turn of events, I was ordained an elder in the Global Methodist Church in 2023, much to my surprise!

I was appointed to serve here in July, 2021 as the Director of Discipleship. Since that time, hospitality has been added to my responsibilities, specifically in regards to assisting our guests in assimilating into the membership of our faith family. I love meeting new people and seeing lives transformed by the love of God!

I most enjoy spending time with our family, especially our two granddaughters - Lainey and Faith, and friends. Walking, flower gardening, traveling, and serving in Cross Bayou Community are all ways I enjoy spending my time!
