I was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and was baptized and confirmed at Christ UMC. I graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a BA degree in Education and a minor in Special Education. A few years later I graduated from Texas A&M with a MA in Education and completed a Certification in Supervision and Administration from LSUS. I had plans of being an elementary school principal, but God had other plans for my life. When I retired from teaching after teaching for 20 years in the Caddo Parish School System, I entered the ministry full time. I graduated from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree with focus on Spiritual Formation. After being ordained and as an elder in the Louisiana Conference I later became certified as a Spiritual Director within the Louisiana Conference. While serving at Broadmoor UMC as an associate pastor for 14 years I was responsible for spiritual formation, congregational care, prayer ministry, women’s ministry, health and wellness, evangelism, hospitality and adult education. After serving at Broadmoor UMC, I became the pastor at Lakeview United Methodist Church in Minden, Louisiana. I served for seven years at Lakeview before coming to serve at FMC Shreveport. My passion is nurturing the body of Christ through both learning and sharing the love of God through prayer and through the study of God’s word.
I am married to Corry Wafer and we have two daughters; Jessica, is married to Cody, and they live in Austin, TX, and Madeline is married to Daniel and they live in Shreveport. I also have five amazing grandchildren. I love being outdoors, hiking in the mountains, walking, traveling and having fun with my family and friends. It is an honor for me to be serving the Lord with my FMC family.
