I was called to ministry as a senior at Frayser High School in Memphis, Tennessee in 1961 and licensed to preach that year. As a junior in Lambuth College in Jackson, Tennessee in 1963 I was appointed as a student pastor to three churches in Milan, Tennessee. In 1966 after the completion of my first year at Vanderbilt Divinity School I was ordained a deacon in The Methodist Church. Upon graduation from Vanderbilt with a Masters of Divinity I was ordained an elder in The Methodist Church. Fast forward 59 years and I am presently serving as a part time pastor of senior adult ministry primarily giving pastoral care to approximately 200 senior adults.
