Prayer ministry

The Prayer Ministry at First Methodist is devoted to fostering spiritual transformation within our congregation and community through the intentional practice of intercessory prayer and Biblical encouragement. Grounded in the belief that prayer is a vital way of experiencing God’s presence, our Prayer Room Ministry invites volunteers to serve weekly—Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM—lifting up specific requests submitted to the church. Many also extend this ministry by writing notes of encouragement to those in need.

This spirit of prayerful care continues through our Prayer Shawl Ministry. Members gather each Tuesday afternoon, while our “Novice Knitters” meet Mondays at noon in the Courtyard Kitchen. As they knit or crochet shawls, they pray over each piece, ensuring that every stitch becomes both an act of intercession and a tangible reminder of the Lord’s comfort, peace, and abiding care.
